This section could also be called "worst case scenario."
See, the scene was supposed to be a simple one.
The photo lab assistant was suspicious of a particular customer who kept dropping off film that looked to be shot without the subject in the photos knowing they were having their pictures taken....the police were to respond to the situation and assure her they would take care of it.
Simple, right? |
Suspicious photolab assistant. |
The location scout, a close relative of the director, misunderstood what exactly was meant by "Photo Lab," and rented out a take out Chinese Restaurant instead.
|
The actors who played the police officers kept acting up. It seems that with the advent of "caller i.d." these two guys were unable to make prank calls from their homes.
They took the opportunity to use the phone in the scene, since if the calls were traced, they would not get in trouble. |
"Hey lady, is your refrigerator running?" |
Golden Dragon Chinese restaurant.... which by the way has VERY good food. |
In our haste, we forgot to lock the front door during shooting.
In the middle of filming, a customer, hungry for some fried rice, came in and attempted to order some dinner.
Though we tried to explain to him that the restaurant was closed for the night, he would not listen, so we shot the scene anyway and just tried to ignore his presence. |
This proved to be a little frustrating for our actress, but she managed to get through.
What a trooper. |
More problems with the police officers...see, the budget for this scene was $1.47.
That being the case, we could only afford ONE hat for the two officers to share (unable to find a policeman hat, we had to settle for a fireman hat).
They kept fighting about who got to wear it.
(Also note the clever police station sign in the background. Hard to believe it isn't the real thing, hey?) |
"It's MY turn to have the hat!". |
See, the photolab assistant actress wasn't THAT upset...oh wait, is she only smiling because she's heading for the exit? |
Whoever said "it isn't easy" wasn't joking.
